Laurie has had a passion for yoga for over 20 years. Her journey began with looking for a “new workout” and trying a vinyasa class. Not realizing that yoga would become a life-changing experience, Laurie quickly recognized all the benefits that yoga can bring to one's self. Yoga can create a sense of peace, calmness, and clarity of mind, body, and spirit. Yoga fills us up.
Yoga is a state of mind, a practice of breath, movement, and stillness which creates a wonderful balance that can help us live in the present moment.
Laurie currently teaches Yin however enjoys practicing Ashtanga and 26 + 2 at the studio as well. Laurie brings a great deal of knowledge in anatomy, physiology, and the movement of the human body as a licensed physical therapist assistant and licensed massage therapist. Laurie enjoys hanging out with her family and dog Bruno as well as hiking, kayaking, and being out in nature. When not on her mat Laurie is helping clients resolve pain and mobility issues as the owner of Tree of Life Therapeutic Bodywork in Mokena where she specializes in myofascial release techniques.
Laurie completed her 200-hour Life Power Yoga Teacher Training as directed by Johnny Kest at Lifetime Fitness studying Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin, pranayama, and meditation under the guidance of Brenda Temme.
